Responsibilities
  1. Work with pharmacy personnel to compound and dispense medications and pharmaceutical supplies following standard procedures, delivering professional service in a hospital setting.
  2. Handle delegated responsibilities such as purchasing, managing continuing education programs, stocking supplies for night shifts, and preparing departmental reports to ensure an organized and efficient department.
Minimum Qualifications
Education, Certification, and Licensure
  1. Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) from an ACPE-accredited school.
  2. Current license to practice pharmacy in West Virginia or eligible for licensure in the state where services will be provided. Licensure must be obtained within 90 days of hire, or employment may be terminated.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Experience in hospital pharmacy through internship or as a registered pharmacist.
Core Duties and Responsibilities

The following are general responsibilities; other duties may be assigned:

  1. Dispense drugs, chemicals, and pharmaceutical preparations as ordered by physicians.
  2. Provide pharmaceutical consultation to doctors and nurses.
  3. Question prescriptions if necessary.
  4. Assist in purchasing drugs from vendors.
  5. Engage with pharmaceutical sales representatives as needed.
  6. Perform drug checks and inspections on hospital floors.
  7. Assist with IV admixture program, checking orders for accuracy and compatibility.
  8. Attend hospital pharmacy meetings as delegated.
  9. Support the pharmacy quality assurance program.
  10. Assist with pharmacy floor inspection reports.
Physical Requirements

Must be able to walk and stand for long periods, lift up to 30 pounds, push 50 pounds, and have good dexterity.
