Job summary

Ayr Wellness in Virginia seeks a Pharmacist to oversee the safe and compliant dispensing of cannabis products in line with state regulations and company policies. You will verify patient eligibility and required documentation before dispensing, and provide product guidance within your scope of practice.

You will maintain dispensing records, supervise technicians, support audits, and help ensure a safe, organized, and compliant dispensing environment while collaborating with the dispensary

Qualifications

• Active pharmacist license in the Commonwealth of Virginia in good standing.
• Retail or regulated dispensing experience preferred.
• Clear and professional communication with patients and team.

Responsibilities

• Oversee dispensing activities to ensure compliance with Virginia regulations and company procedures.
• Verify patient certifications, identification, and required documentation prior to dispensing.

Job Summary

This role verifies patient eligibility and documentation, provides product guidance within scope of practice, and ensures dispensing activities are completed accurately and in compliance with all applicable requirements.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Oversee dispensing activities to ensure cannabis products are provided accurately and in compliance with Virginia regulations and company procedures
• Verify patient certifications, identification, and required documentation prior to dispensing
• Review dispensing quantities to ensure products are dispensed within state-established limits
• Provide product information and usage guidance to patients within the scope of the role
• Maintain accurate dispensing records and ensure required documentation is completed in all systems
• Supervise pharmacy technicians, interns, and dispensing staff in accordance with regulatory requirements
• Support compliance with inventory controls, product handling, and recordkeeping standards
• Assist with audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews as needed
• Partner with dispensary operations manager to support workflow, compliance, and daily operations
• Help maintain a safe, organized, and compliant dispensing environment

Qualifications

• Active pharmacist license in the Commonwealth of Virginia and in good standing
• Ability to meet all state licensing and regulatory requirements related to cannabis dispensing
• Minimum of 1 year of pharmacist experience in a retail, pharmacy, or regulated dispensing environment preferred
• Strong understanding of applicable state regulations, dispensing requirements, and recordkeeping standards
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with patients, team members, and leadership
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in a regulated environment
