Job summary

Mail Meds is seeking a Staff Pharmacist for a full-time, day-shift role in Florida. You will interpret prescriptions, counsel patients, and coordinate with prescribers to support care for individuals affected by HIV, HCV, and other infectious diseases.

The position emphasizes pharmacy quality improvement, accurate medication reviews, and patient profile maintenance, with opportunities for training and career growth within a nonprofit setting.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid pharmacist license issued through the Florida Board of Pharmacy.
• Advanced disease management training is preferred (e.g., autoimmune disorders, HCV, diabetes, inflammatory disorders).
• HIV Pharmacist certification through the American Academy of HIV Medicine preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interprets prescriptions, verifies details with prescribers and patients, provides patient counseling and documentation.
• Fills prescriptions and dispenses medicines; counsels patients and providers on drug use and safety.
• Ensures compliance with quality improvement plans and Florida Board of Pharmacy standards.
• Reviews medication orders for accuracy, drug interactions, allergies, and appropriate dosage; contacts doctors/nurses when clarifications are needed.
• Maintains patient profiles with demographics, medications, conditions, allergies, and insurance information; checks insurance eligibility.
• Participates in quality improvement projects and staff meetings.
• Manages PV1 Remote verification queues for CAN Pharmacies and ensures daily review of records and orders.

What You'll Do

Staff Pharmacist is a health professional who interprets physicians' prescriptions, contacts doctors or other prescribers and/or patients to verify prescriptions, review assessments, provide patient counseling and associated documentation and expedite processing of order.

• Provides drug information to healthcare providers and patients and participates in all daily clinical activities for the Pharmacy Service.
• Provides pharmacy services to patient and medical practitioners. Fills prescriptions, dispenses medicines, counsel's patients and medical practitioners regarding the nature and use of drugs.
• Assures that patient care is maintained through compliance with the company's quality improvement plan and Florida Board of Pharmacy standards for pharmaceutical services.
• Accurately reviews and interprets medication orders and verify that the information is complete and accurate. Review profiles for correct drug, dosage, and route of administration; ensures that no drug duplication or drug-drug interaction exists; ensures that patient is not allergic to any medication prescribed. Contact the patient's doctor/nurse, if necessary, to clarify directions, strengths, or allergies.

• Participate in pharmacy quality improvement management projects and staff meetings.
• Maintains accurate patient profiles including patient demographics, medications, medical conditions, allergies, and insurance information. Checks insurance eligibility.
• Aligns/synchronizes medications. Completes medication reconciliation. Assigned facilities. Maintains accurate patient profiles including patient demographics, medications, medical conditions, allergies, and insurance information.

Requirements

1. Bachelor's degree in pharmacy or a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree
2. Advanced training in disease management (e.g., autoimmune disorders, HCV, diabetes, and inflammatory disorders) is preferred. Certified as an HIV Pharmacist through the American Academy of HIV Medicine preferred.
3. Physician group or pharmacy manager experience is strongly recommended.
4. Must hold a valid pharmacist license issued through the Florida Board of Pharmacy
5. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and have valid insurance and driver's license.
