Position Summary

Prism Health North Texas Pharmacy is a company providing access, education, consultation, and management of general retail and specialty pharmaceuticals for patients of Prism Health North Texas and other Texas providers, as well as the local community.

The staff pharmacist is responsible for assisting the Pharmacy Manager and Director of Pharmacy Services in daily operations of the Prism Health North Texas Pharmacy; managing supporting pharmacy staff; patient recruitment and retention, especially for patients of the Prism Health North Texas Medical Center and other contracted providers; and maintaining compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements of pharmacy practice. The staff pharmacist will also provide clinical services, such as developing and implementing medication adherence programs.

Essential Job Functions

Essential functions include, but are not limited to, verbal and written communication; relationship building with clients and staff; computer proficiency for typing and research; and reliable transportation.

SALARY RANGE: $132,000 - $162,000

Major Areas Of Responsibility
  • Provide superior customer service to patients, providers, community members, and referral sources.
  • Assist in managing the pharmacy alongside the Pharmacy Manager, including supervising pharmacy technicians, managing the 340B program and formulary, checking prescriptions for accuracy and appropriateness, managing inventory, and working with pharmacists to ensure financial success.
  • Collaborate with providers and staff to optimize health outcomes for patients.
  • Provide patient consultations to ensure understanding of therapeutic regimens, side effects, and precautions.
  • Deliver specialized pharmaceutical therapy and services, including adherence programs, disease management, and immunizations.
  • Work with case managers and behavioral health staff to ensure medication access and adherence.
  • Guide patients on assistance services for medication access.
  • Market pharmacy services to medical offices and patients.
  • Promote Prism Health North Texas and its pharmacy as leaders in HIV care.
  • Build relationships with pharmacy students to foster referrals.
  • Adhere to all pharmacy laws and regulations.
  • Develop in-pharmacy clinical services to improve health outcomes cost-effectively.
  • Coordinate with other departments to help patients utilize Prism services.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager or Director of Pharmacy Services.
Education/Licensure
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy
  • Unrestricted Texas pharmacy license in good standing.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Qualifications
  • Preferred 3 years of pharmacy experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Willingness to obtain necessary certifications (e.g., Medication Therapy Management, immunizations)
  • Knowledge of HIV/AIDS social and health needs
  • Sensitivity and competence working with diverse populations, including persons of color and LGBTQ+ communities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications
  • Reliable transportation, driver's license, and auto insurance
