Optum CPS, part of the Optum family, supports hospital pharmacy services at Sunrise Vista Behavioral Hospital. The Per Diem Staff Pharmacist role focuses on safe medication management, clinical services, and teamwork to improve inpatient outcomes.

This position emphasizes practicing at the top of your license in a behavioral health hospital setting, collaborating with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize care.

Qualifications

  • Degree from an ACPE-accredited pharmacy program (PharmD preferred).
  • 1+ years of recent pharmacist experience, preferably in a hospital setting.
  • Experience using pharmacy systems and Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, interpret, and verify medication orders according to standards.
  • Compound and dispense medications accurately and safely.
  • Identify and resolve medication-related issues to support patient care.
  • Promote cost-effective drug therapy using evidence-based protocols.
  • Provide clinical pharmacy services including therapy management and dosing/monitoring.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses and care teams to optimize regimens.
  • Monitor outcomes and medication safety, preventing adverse events.
  • Supervise pharmacy technicians and interns while ensuring regulatory compliance.

What you will do
  • Evaluate, interpret, and verify medication orders in accordance with legal and professional standards.
  • Compound and dispense medications accurately and safely.
  • Identify, prevent, and resolve medication-related issues to support optimal patient care.
  • Promote clinically appropriate and cost-effective drug therapy using evidence-based protocols.
  • Provide clinical pharmacy services, including medication therapy management and pharmacokinetic dosing/monitoring.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary care teams to optimize medication regimens.
  • Monitor patient outcomes and medication safety, including prevention of adverse drug events.
  • Support and supervise pharmacy technicians and interns while maintaining regulatory compliance.
What you will bring

Market Snapshot
  • PRN Schedule: Pharmacy hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $44.09 to $78.70 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
