Job summary

5V Tech is seeking a Staff Perception Engineer, Robotics for a fully remote role across the United States. You will own the perception stack from sensors to scene understanding on deployed robots, setting architecture, deploying to the fleet, and helping scale the team.

You will design and build the perception stack (detection, tracking, 3D understanding), fuse LiDAR, camera, GPS and IMU, and optimize for latency and power on embedded compute.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands‑on perception engineering, shipped to production on real, imperfect hardware.
• Production‑grade modern C++, with perception running natively on the robot.
• Strong fundamentals in multi‑view geometry, camera models and tracking.
• Hands on experience with 3D/2.5D perception, such as point clouds, depth, or LiDAR‑camera fusion, ideally including overhead or beyond‑2D obstacle problems.
• End‑to‑end ownership of a perception system, ideally at an early‑stage company.
• Fluency with AI tools, balanced with strong independent engineering judgment.

Responsibilities

Base salary: $180K-250K

Total Comp: Base + annual bonus (performance based) + equity

We're partnering with a commercially proven robotics company whose autonomous machines are already working in the field for paying customers across the US. They're hiring their first dedicated perception engineer to own the stack end-to-end, from sensors to scene understanding, on robots that ship. You'll set the architecture, deploy to the fleet, and help build the perception team as the company scales.
