Job summary

Broadcom is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the ESXi OS Services team in San Diego. You will lead design and delivery of high-impact functionality across User Space OS services, container services, distributed control planes, and application infrastructure.

You will shape technical direction for enterprise virtualization, Kubernetes platforms, and modern cloud-native workloads while collaborating with product management and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

Qualifications

• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.
• 5+ years for BS, 3+ years for MS.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ and Python; Go is a plus.
• Deep understanding of Linux/Unix internals and user-space concepts.
• Experience with cloud-native tech, containers, and Kubernetes.
• Experience in OS services or user-space applications.
• Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver OS and container services for ESXi OS Services.
• Develop scalable container services, runtimes, and Kubernetes integration.
• Build highly available platform infrastructure across clusters and zones.
• Contribute to open source security fixes and upstream Kubernetes features.
• Collaborate with Product Management to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Work with UI/UX, system architects, test teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver end-to-end solutions.
