Broadcom Inc. is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the ESXi OS Services team to drive design and delivery of high-impact OS and container services. You will shape enterprise-class virtualization and cloud-native workloads, collaborating across product, architecture, and QA to deliver robust solutions.

The role emphasizes leadership in distributed systems, Linux internals, and Kubernetes integration, with opportunities to influence platform strategy and release cadence.

Qualifications

• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
• 3+ years of relevant experience for a BS degree; 0+ for MS/PhD.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++, Golang, and Python.
• Deep understanding of Linux/Unix internals (process, thread, memory, I/O).
• History of leading system-software projects or teams.
• Experience architecting distributed software solutions.
• Familiarity with cloud-native technologies, containerization (Docker/containerd), and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement advanced OS techniques for managing virtual systems on x86 architectures.
• Architect and develop scalable container services, container runtimes, and Kubernetes platform capabilities tightly integrated with ESXi and vSphere.
• Develop highly available platform infrastructure to run customer workloads across clusters and zones.
• Maintain open source code for security fixes and upstream Kubernetes features.
• Drive development of platforms supporting SaaS, CaaS, and FaaS workloads.
• Collaborate with Product Management to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Work with UI/UX designers, system architects, test teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver end-to-end solutions.
