Job summary

PsiQuantum seeks a Staff Optical Fiber Link Design Engineer to support the Optical Distribution Network design for current and future quantum systems. You will design, develop, integrate and validate fiber networks and hardware to support complex optical I/O.

Responsibilities include end-to-end fiber link architecture, collaboration with mechanical and electrical engineers, and vendor evaluation of advanced fiber components to meet stringent quantum performance.

Qualifications

• M.S./PhD in Physics or Optical/Electrical Engineering with 5+ years' experience.
• 5+ years designing, validating & testing fiber networks and optical systems.
• Experience with loss mechanisms, dispersion, nonlinear effects, polarization, and phase stability.
• Experience designing fiber systems, networking, and splice equipment.
• Experience with optical test equipment (OBR, OSA, power meters).
• Python controls experience and lab automation background.
• Experience in product lifecycles from R&D to production.
• Strong communication, organization and multitasking skills.

Responsibilities

• Support end-to-end fiber link architecture connecting subsystems and control systems.
• Drive link component designs with mechanical/electrical teams.
• Create detailed fiber designs for optical distribution networks.
• Contribute to link budgets and meet system architecture requirements.
• Define fiber routing, splicing, connectorization, cleanliness and handling guidelines.
• Evaluate advanced fiber components with vendors for quantum use.
• Some Python scripting to call lab controls APIs.
• Collaborate across functions with clear communication.
