Job summary

Job description

Staff Nurse - Women's Health Float Pool - MSW Full time Night

Responsible for the care activities and goal achievements of assigned patients by assessing, diagnosing, planning, and intervening in actual or potential health problems, and evaluating patients' responses to care. Responsible for health teaching and discharge planning. Acts as a member of a designated care team, collaborating, coordinating, and guiding team members in planning patient care activities. Demonstrates behaviors reflecting scientific knowledge, judgment, and teaching skills of a professional nurse.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct nursing assessments based on interviews, examinations, observations, and review of records
  • Ensure patient progress or lack thereof is documented in progress notes and care plans
  • Develop discharge plans aligned with patient status and facilitate inter-departmental communication
  • Communicate information to patients appropriate to their awareness and readiness to learn
  • Support orientation of new staff, act as preceptor, role model, and resource
  • Mentor students and volunteers in patient care
  • Assign patient care tasks considering patient needs and staff skill levels
  • Organize care to meet patient priorities and unit needs
  • Communicate patient and unit conditions requiring intervention to relevant leadership
  • Participate in staff development and practice evaluations
  • Collaborate with peers and other disciplines to meet patient and unit needs
  • Provide direction, support, and accountability for assigned tasks
  • Identify staff educational needs and communicate to supervisors
  • Engage with nursing leadership as per authority and responsibility levels
  • Utilize nursing leaders as resources and role models
  • Align practice with departmental philosophy, goals, and objectives, including interactions with families and community groups
Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited Nursing program; BSN preferred
  • Valid RN license (1 year experience preferred)
  • Certifications: BCLS, ACLS, NRP from recognized authorities
  • Experience in Labor & Delivery and Mother/Baby units preferred
