Job summary

Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City seeks a Staff Nurse Scheduler to coordinate surgical case scheduling across OR and sedation services. You will work with nursing and support teams to ensure resources and timelines align with patient needs.

You will review documentation in the EHR, assist with reporting for OR efficiency, and adhere to our immunization requirements and safety policies. This role is on-site, weekdays, with competitive pay.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree BSN preferred or 5–7 years direct care nursing in surgical/sedation settings.
• RN licensure Kansas/Missouri or multi-state license required upon hire.
• MO/Kansas and other states compact license required upon hire.
• Life Support Certifications required upon hire per policy.
• Specialty certification relevant to unit preferred (1 year).

Responsibilities

• Efficiently and accurately schedules surgical cases in the electronic system.
• Collaborates with appropriate departments verifying needed resources for scheduling.
• Audits documentation in the EHR to ensure accuracy in required fields.
• Assists with maintaining statistical reports essential to OR/Sedation efficiency.

Overview

Utilizes Nursing knowledge and skills, in combination with knowledge of invasive and diagnostic procedures and processes to coordinate scheduling procedures effectively for all specialty services scheduling in the Operating Room, or with Sedation Services. Considers patients' age and available resources when scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Efficiently and accurately schedules surgical cases in the electronic system.
• Collaborates with appropriate departments verifying the needed resources to schedule surgical, procedural, and diagnostic encounters.
• Audits documentation in the EHR, reviewing specific fields to assure accurate and complete documentation in required fields.
• Assists with the maintenance of statistical reports essential to Operating Room/Sedation efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree BSN preferred or 5-7 years experience Direct care nursing experience in the surgical or sedation arena with specific knowledge regarding surgical or procedural subspecialties. Beginning leadership experience in another field is preferred.
• One of the following: Licensed RN - Kansas, Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas, Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri, RN Compact license for all states besides KS and MO required upon hire
• One of the following: Licensed RN - MO, Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri, Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas, RN Compact license for all states besides KS and MO required upon hire
• Refer to Nursing and Advanced Practice Provider Licensure and Certification policy for required Life Support Certifications Required Upon Hire
• Specialty Certification relevant to unit's patient population (determined by Nurse Manager/Director) Preferred 1 Year

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $34.85/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

Remote Work/Work from Home

This position is not eligible to work remotely, which means that the person hired will be required to work onsite at one of our Children's Mercy locations and may not work from home.
