Job summary

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center’s Electrophysiology Lab at The Ross Heart Hospital in Columbus is seeking a Staff Nurse to deliver direct patient care within a high-volume program that treats complex heart rhythm disorders using state-of-the-art mapping systems.

You will assess, plan, implement, coordinate, delegate, and evaluate nursing care, supervise other team members, and collaborate with physicians and radiology staff to ensure safe, effective, and patient-centered outcomes.

Qualifications

• 2-year nursing degree required from CCNE/ACEN accredited program.
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred from CCNE/ACEN accredited program.
• Current Ohio RN license or interim permit required.
• 2 years of experience in critical care or procedural setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide and coordinate direct patient care as part of the nursing team.
• Direct and supervise nursing care within the patient care team.
• Maintain ongoing clinical responsibilities aligned with the professional practice model.

Scope of Position: The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center’s mission is to improve health in Ohio and across the world through innovation in research, education, and patient care. The team provides patient care and supportive services directed towards achievement of positive patient care outcomes, maximizing the patient’s involvement in his/her own plan of care and reducing the length of hospitalization, The staff nurse plays a critical role in staff engagement, the patient experience, quality and safety, and cost-effective care.

Position Summary: The Staff Nurse is responsible for managing and providing care to the patient and his/her family, and for directing and supervising nursing care provided by other members of the patient care team. The Staff Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, coordinating, delegating and evaluating the nursing care of patients in alignment with the professional practice model.

Minimum Qualifications

For Hire:

• 2- year College Degree in Nursing from a CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) accredited nursing program is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing with a major in Nursing from a CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) accredited nursing program is preferred.
• Current Ohio license or interim permit required.
• 2 years of experience in critical care or procedural setting is preferred.

On-going:Maintains current Ohio RN license. Meets mandatory educational and health requirements. Demonstrates computer skills required to meet job functions.

The Electrophysiology (EP) Lab, located within The Ross Heart Hospital, is one of the largest and most advanced EP programs in the region, providing comprehensive care for patients with complex heart rhythm disorders.
