Internal Job Posting: Staff Nurse -Prep/Recovery


University of Iowa Health Care Department of Nursing is seeking dedicated Internal Staff Nurses for Prep/Recovery. This role involves assisting the Nursing team in providing exceptional patient care under the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Apply nursing theory to assess, diagnose, treat, and evaluate patient responses to health and illness.

  • Assess patient health care preferences and expectations.

  • Coordinate the continuum of care across various settings collaboratively.

  • Develop patient care plans based on condition, age, and psychological, educational, and socioeconomic factors, prescribing interventions to achieve expected outcomes.

  • Implement patient care plans according to priorities, including interventions identified through nursing diagnoses, and document/report interventions and patient/family responses.

  • Collaborate with patients and families to integrate their contributions into the multidisciplinary patient care plan.

  • Develop, coordinate, and implement transfer/discharge planning throughout the episode of care.

  • Implement nursing interventions according to department, division, and/or unit policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

  • Follow universal precautions.


Required Qualifications:



  • An Associate's Degree in Nursing, a Diploma in Nursing, a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader, or a Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members, demonstrated through written and verbal interactions.

  • General computer skills.

  • Current license to practice nursing in Iowa by the date of hire.

  • A minimum of 2 years ofPrep/Recovery experience.
