Description

The Clinical Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse who provides safe, competent, quality care based on nursing theory and research to a designated group of patients and significant others.

Responsibilities

Patient Care
  • Delivers patient care by incorporating the tenets of Relationship Centered Care and applying the nursing process based on theory, research, evidence-based practice, and organizational standards.
  • Assesses and evaluates patient care needs, using critical thinking skills.
  • Integrates assessment and intervention skills in nursing care delivery.
  • Collaborates with the healthcare team to develop, implement, and evaluate care plans.
  • Prioritizes patient care tasks, including teaching, rounding, coaching, planning, and delegation.
  • Educates patients and caregivers about their care plans, transitions, health promotion, and disease prevention.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, families, and team members.
  • Manages assignments within the Modified Primary Nursing model and uses resources efficiently.
Patient Experience
  • Models Mount Sinai Relationship Centered Care through actions like admission welcome, bedside report, hourly rounding, and discharge planning.
  • Considers patient values, preferences, and needs in all care aspects.
  • Builds therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
  • Uses evidence-based practices to understand patient perceptions.

Qualifications

  • IBCLC license required.
  • 1+ year of Lactation Consultant experience preferred.
