Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) II is a professional caregiver responsible for a group of patients within a designated time frame. The RN II provides care through the therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environment, instrumentation, and collaboration with other healthcare team members.
Essential Responsibilities
- Conduct ongoing assessments focusing on physiologic, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and cognitive statuses, including nutrition, pain, education, and advocacy.
- Develop goal-directed care plans when appropriate.
- Implement care thoroughly, skillfully, and consistently.
- Prioritize patient care based on needs and available resources.
- Identify and meet patient and family learning needs.
- Respect patient and family rights, cultural, and ethical beliefs.
- Coordinate and provide care for patient populations.
- Establish effective relationships with healthcare team members, patients, and families.
- Delegate tasks appropriately and evaluate care effectiveness.
- Use effective communication skills and follow proper lines of authority.
- Apply safety principles and perform efficiently in emergency situations.
- Maintain responsibility and accountability for professional practice.
- Participate in staff development, legal compliance, and quality improvement activities.
- Engage in research activities and problem-solving.
- Demonstrate a service-oriented approach in all interactions.
- Provide data for staffing decisions and demonstrate flexibility in staffing and unit assignments.
- Proficiently use computers and telecommunication tools for documentation and communication.
- Perform other related duties as necessary.
Experience
One year recent (within last 3 years) experience in Critical Care or completion of a KP Critical Care Training Program within the past 12 months.
Education
- High School Diploma/GED.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program, with required clinical hours, or equivalent experience as outlined.
License, Certification, Registration
- California RN License.
- Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).

- Knowledge of RN scope of practice.

Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of a Critical Care course preferred.
