Job summary

TCH Medical Center in Austin, TX is seeking an Inpatient Staff Nurse to provide comprehensive nursing care in a fast-paced setting. You will assess, plan, implement, educate, and evaluate age-appropriate care with family-centered principles.

Responsibilities include collecting data, administering medications, coordinating referrals, triaging, and documenting in the medical record. A TX RN license and BLS required; 9 months experience preferred. Respiratory fit testing will be conducted.

Qualifications

  • RN licensure in TX or via Nurse Licensure Compact.
  • BLS from American Heart Association.
  • 9 months of professional nursing experience required.
  • Enrollment in BSN program or Bridge to MSN.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or equivalent required by TX BON.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in collecting patient/family data per site protocol.
  • Documents vital signs and reason for visit.
  • Prepares patient for examination per site protocol.
  • Assists provider during treatments and testing as directed.
  • Administers medications and immunizations per protocol.
  • Documents medication administration in medical record.
  • Provides patient/family education as instructed.
  • Coordinates referrals and triages patient complaints.
  • Collects and processes specimens per manufacturer instructions.
  • Demonstrates service philosophies to patients and families.

Education

Bachelor's degree in nursing
Associate degree in nursing
Technical Diploma in Nursing
Enrollment in BSN program or Nursing Bridge Program
RN License – TX BON or Compact
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Enrollment in Nursing Bridge to MSN
9 months professional nursing experience

We are searching for an Inpatient Staff Nurse -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will provide nursing care to patients by assessing, planning, educating, implementing, and evaluating age-appropriate care that incorporates family-centered principles and cost-effective care.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assists in the collection of patient/family data that may include biophysical, psychosocial, developmental, cultural, and environmental information per site protocol
  • Collects and documents vital signs, height/weight and reason for visit
  • Prepares patient for examination per site protocol
  • Assists provider, as directed, during treatments, examinations and testing as directed by provider and within scope of site
  • Administers medication and immunizations as directed by physician per site protocol
  • Documents administration of medication and immunizations in the medical record per site protocol
  • Provides patient/family education as instructed by the physician or site protocol
  • Documents such education in the medical record
  • Coordinates referrals
  • Triages presenting patient complaint per site protocol
  • Verifies provider order and patient per site protocol
  • Collects and processes specimen according to manufacturer’s instructions and using proper technique
  • Demonstrates service philosophies to patients and families

Skills & Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or one of the following:
  • Associate degree in nursing/related field accepted by the Texas Board of Nursing for the purposes of obtaining and maintaining an RN license with acceptance or current enrollment in a BSN program and a signed agreement
  • Technical Diploma in Nursing with acceptance or current enrollment in a BSN program and signed agreement
  • Must be currently enrolled in a Nursing Bridge Program working toward an MSN. Verified BSN‑equivalency or a signed agreement is required.
  • RN License – Texas Board of Nursing or Nurse Licensure Compact
  • Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association required
  • 9 Months Professional Nursing Experience Required
