The Aultman Health System is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for the Main 2 Endoscopy/Minor Surgery unit. The RN will provide direct, primary nursing care, coordinate patient care, and supervise other care staff in alignment with the Ohio Nurse Practice Act.

  • Certification preferred for eligible RNs.

Responsibilities

  • Delegate and coordinate patient care; supervise LPNs, CNAs, and other staff as applicable.

Position Summary

The Aultman Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional nurse that provides direct, primary nursing care to patients/residents. The RN delegates and coordinates patient care, based upon a documented assessment of the patient’s/resident’s needs. The RN supervises the care provided by individuals such as licensed practical nurses, patient care technicians/state tested nursing assistants/nurse aides, medical assistants, and etc., if applicable.

Department Summary

The primary purpose of this position is to provide clinical leadership and direction of patient care, provide patient and family teaching, and work cooperatively within the interdisciplinary health care team in maintaining standards of nursing care within the framework of the Ohio Nurse Practice Act. Main 2 Endoscopy/Minor Surgery uses a hybrid model that includes both the total patient care model (for simple cases done with local anesthesia) and team nursing model (for endoscopy cases requiring sedation).

Main 2 Endoscopy/Minor Surgery provides diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures on an outpatient, inpatient, and emergency basis. Additionally minor surgeries and miscellaneous outpatient procedures are performed. Typical hours of operation are Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. When the department is closed, there is an RN on call 24/7 with a 30-minute response time. Main 2 Endoscopy/Minor Surgery is staffed entirely with RNs who work under the direction of the Unit Director and Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM). Care of all patients is planned, directed, and evaluated by a Registered Nurse (RN).

Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
  • Current, active licensure as a Registered Nurse through the Ohio Board of Nursing.
  • Obtain and maintain current American Heart Association (AHA) training in Basic Life Support (BLS) utilizing Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) is required.
  • Certification preferred for RNs meeting applicable certification eligibility requirements.
Department Qualifications
  • Graduate of state board approved School of Nursing.
  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Ohio
  • Educational and experiential qualifications with consideration of the following:
    • Education- BSN preferred
    • Certification preferred for those meeting ANCC eligibility requirements
    • Membership preferred in professional nursing organization
    • Academic and experiential requirements as required by applicable federal, state and local law
