Job summary

Google is seeking a Staff Network Engineer for Google Distributed Cloud to own critical network outcomes and guide architectural decisions. You'll influence stakeholders, solve ambiguous problems, and design scalable network solutions across multi-site deployments.

The role requires deep expertise in routing protocols, data center networking, and scripting; experience with EVPN-VXLAN and related technologies is highly valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 10 years of experience with network routing protocols, design and troubleshooting, with network equipment providers.
• Experience with planning and designing networks (e.g., multiple sites, multiple products, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Drive impact for GDC across a combination of large project leadership, or solving very deep and ambiguous technical problems.
• Provide deep insight and efficient resolution of complex operational issues that may arise in production, and design and develop processes to prevent reoccurrence.
• Anticipate scaling bottlenecks, software inefficiencies or shifts in usage, improve network planning and models, increase availability and reliability.
• Coordinate or lead efforts across multiple teams and organizations on medium-large projects.
• Drive significant improvements in performance through leadership, mentorship, and engineering principles.
