Coinbase, Inc. is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Native Mobile to lead the App Infra team during a greenfield rewrite from React Native to native Swift and Kotlin.

You will own core native architectures, guide migration strategies, and ensure high-quality, scalable mobile experiences for millions of customers. You will work hands-on, optimize performance, and shape developer ergonomics while mentoring engineers across the mobile org.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of iOS or Android mobile software engineering experience (Swift/iOS or Kotlin/Android).
• Track record of shipping high-quality mobile applications at scale with ownership of architecture decisions, performance budgets, and release quality.
• Deep understanding of mobile performance optimization, including cold start, frame stability, scroll jank, and time to interaction.
• Demonstrated ability to translate org strategy into team-level technical execution, build alignment across cross-team partners.
• Experience with AI-assisted code generation or LLM-driven development workflows, with judgment on what to automate.
• Experience improving developer experience through build systems, CI/CD pipelines, and release tooling.
• Uses generative AI responsibly, with human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs.

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture of core native app surfaces in Swift and Kotlin, defining module boundaries and compile-time checks for a scalable codebase.
• Stay hands-on across codebases, writing and reviewing code.
• Lead the agentic code translation workflow and automate migration tasks while balancing automation vs. human review.
• Own developer experience by improving build speeds, local development workflows, and CI/CD reliability.
• Shape the dual-app synchronization strategy during migration to keep native and React Native in sync.
• Mentor L3-L5 mobile engineers and define best practices across the mobile community at Coinbase.
