Coinbase, Inc. is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Native Mobile to lead the App Infra team's native rewrite in Swift and Kotlin, owning core architecture and migration strategies across iOS and Android.

You will elevate developer experience, shape the synchronization strategy with React Native, and mentor engineers to deliver scalable, high-quality mobile experiences for millions of Coinbase customers.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of iOS or Android mobile software engineering experience (Swift/iOS or Kotlin/Android), with working proficiency in the other platform.
• Track record of shipping high-quality mobile applications at scale with ownership of architecture decisions.
• Deep understanding of mobile performance optimization across device tiers with profiling and tuning.
• Demonstrated ability to translate org strategy into team-level technical execution and cross-team alignment.
• Experience with AI-assisted code generation or LLM-driven development workflows.
• Experience improving developer experience through build systems, CI/CD pipelines, and release tooling.
• Uses generative AI responsibly with human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs.

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture of core native app surfaces in Swift and Kotlin, defining module boundaries and compile-time checks for a high-quality, scalable codebase.
• Stay hands-on across codebases, writing and reviewing code deeply.
• Lead the agentic code translation workflow, implementing automated systems for migration work and balancing automation vs. human review.
• Own developer experience for the native codebase, improving builds, local development, and CI/CD reliability.
• Shape the dual-app synchronization strategy to keep native and React Native in sync during the transition.
• Mentor mobile engineers across teams and foster community best practices within Coinbase.
