This Staff Mobile Engineer, Android position works onsite in our Alameda, CA location for Lingo.
As a Staff Mobile Engineer, Android at Lingo, you will lead the design and development of the Android applications and shared mobile platform components that power our biosensing experience. In this role you will set the architectural direction for the Android codebase, raise the engineering bar across the mobile team, and take ownership of large, ambiguous initiatives from concept through production.
You bring deep, hands‑on Android expertise and modern Kotlin architecture practices, and you apply that expertise both to your own code and to how the broader team builds. You mentor other engineers, provide architectural guidance across Android teams, and lead design reviews that influence technical decisions across mobile, backend, and product.
You are equally comfortable translating complex, ambiguous business problems into scalable technical solutions and communicating those solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. A core part of this role is leading Lingo’s transition from React Native to fully native Android, owning the migration strategy and setting the technical standard the rest of the team follows.
