Job summary

Moveworks is seeking senior/staff engineers to join the GenAI Search Platform team to enhance search-based question answering. We blend traditional information retrieval with cutting-edge generative AI to provide instant, enterprise-ready answers grounded in diverse knowledge sources.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with product, UX, data science, and infrastructure teams, and drive performance, security, and scalability while delivering fast prototypes to customers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of engineering with 2+ years as a senior engineer (technical lead) leading a team of software engineers.
• Experience with search platforms, information retrieval, ranking and relevance, or question answering systems.
• Background in text processing, information retrieval, natural language understanding, or machine learning.

Responsibilities

• Architect powerful abstractions to enable ranking and product teams to contribute safely to the codebase.
• Develop algorithm frameworks to support conversational search applications like multi-turn QA systems.
• Drive the search platform with new LLM-enabled features, enabling rapid prototyping and scalable deployment.
• Develop evaluation metrics and methodologies for search models, including security and privacy considerations.
• Help build a high-performing, inclusive team culture and coach engineers at different levels.
• Iterate on interview processes and help grow the team by closing candidates.

Job Description

What You Will Do

We are looking for senior/staff engineers to join our GenAI Search Platform team to improve our search-based question answering systems, utilizing both traditional machine learning and cutting-edge generative AI technologies. At Moveworks, we build conversational search systems to provide instant answers to enterprise users’ questions. We deliver business intelligence support by combining modern information retrieval with the latest advancement in natural language understanding, including LLMs (large language models). By accurately retrieving, matching, ranking, and summarizing text snippets grounded in heterogeneous knowledge sources, our search products are reshaping the enterprise search experience for millions of our customers’ employees.

For the Search Platform, we are looking for passionate leaders who can provide technical direction and thoughtful coaching to our team of search and machine-learning engineers. The search platform team works closely with the ranking, product, design, infrastructure and data science teams to drive our agentic search products to the next generation of capabilities focusing on performance and enterprise readiness.

To be successful, you'll be partnering with product, user experience, customer success and other engineering teams to identify, define and build elegant solutions.

• Architect powerful, elegant abstractions to enable ranking and product teams to contribute safely and easily to the codebase.
• Develop algorithm frameworks to support diverse conversational search applications such as multi-turn multi-hop question answering systems.
• Drive the development of our search platform with new LLM-enabled generative AI features in a fast-paced environment. This platform would enable product teams to build new applications and features quickly, ship new prototypes to customers at scale, evaluate and iterate on ranking improvements in a systematic manner, and enforce guarantees on quality, security, privacy and scalability.
• Develop systematic evaluation metrics and methodology for our search models, leveraging LLMs to address unique challenges in the enterprise such as security and privacy.
• As a technical leader, you will help build a high-performing team with an inclusive and positive team culture.
• As a technical leader, you will iterate on our interview processes, and close candidates to help grow the team. You will also coach and mentor engineers at different levels to achieve their career goals.

Qualifications

What You Bring To The Table

• 5+ years of engineering with 2+ years of experience as a senior engineer (technical lead) leading a team of software engineers.
• Passionate about helping product and ranking teams move faster and scale their solutions better in an environment where everyone cares deeply about customer impact and success.
• First-hand experience relevant to search platforms such as traditional information retrieval, search ranking and relevance, recommendation systems, or question answering systems.
• Background in text processing, information retrieval, natural language understanding, or machine learning.

Nice to Have

• Experience with (or desire to learn) large language models, retrieval augmented generation (RAG), and agents.
• Experience in Python. Contributing to mature python libraries or platform code, including open-source repositories is a nice to have.
• Experience in Golang (not required).
