Job summary

Coupang is hiring for a Staff-level role in Mountain View to build scalable offline and online ML platforms supporting ranking and recommendation. You will process billions of records and petabytes of logs, transforming them into consumable data objects for engineers and scientists.

You will serve complex ML models in real time to help millions of Coupang customers search and discover products. Join a fast-paced, high-impact environment with a focus on big data systems and scalable serving.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional experience in applied machine learning.
• Experience in ML, deep learning, and statistical modeling.
• Proficiency in Python and/or Java with production-grade ML systems experience.
• Experience with modern ML frameworks and lifecycle tools.

Responsibilities

• Design features and build large-scale ML models and systems for ads targeting, relevance, ranking, and engagement.
• Develop ML systems for search ranking, retrieval, query understanding, and personalized discovery using transformer-based models and vector search.
• Advance search relevance with LLMs, embedding-based retrieval, and multi-modal learning.
• Build ML pipelines using Spark, Airflow, Kubeflow, and MLflow ensuring reproducibility and scalability.
• Define and track KPIs to evaluate model impact and identify improvement opportunities.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and data science teams to align solutions with business goals.
• Mentor engineers and promote technical excellence and experimentation.
