Job summary

Waymo is seeking a seasoned ML engineer to design, train, and deploy models that automate the creation of high-definition maps for the Waymo Driver. You will push state-of-the-art methods, including Vision-Language Models, to scale mapping automation across platforms.

You will own the full lifecycle from data processing to production, collaborating closely with Waymo Perception and AI Foundations teams to deliver reliable, scalable solutions for autonomous driving applications.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on ML experience with a focus on computer vision and/or deep learning.
• Proficiency in TensorFlow, PyTorch, or JAX.
• Demonstrated experience owning problems end-to-end and working across the systems stack to deliver results.
• BS in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, train, and deploy ML models to automate the creation of Waymo's HD maps.
• Advance state-of-the-art ML techniques, including Vision-Language Models, to enable mapping automation.
• Own the complete model development lifecycle from data mining to productionization.
• Collaborate with partner ML teams to adapt research into scalable, production-grade solutions.
