Job summary

Pinterest is seeking a Staff Machine Learning Engineer, Applied Science, to join Pinterest Labs. You’ll drive GenRec and RL deployments, collaborating with research scientists and engineers to scale AI-first recommendations.

In this role you will publish results, mentor teams, and shape research strategy across Ads, Discovery, Growth, and Search, applying LLM/VLM insights to production systems. This US-based role requires in-office presence 1-2 times per quarter; base salary ranges from $227,871

Qualifications

• MS/PhD in CS or equivalent industry experience.
• 6+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Hands-on with large-scale recommender systems and RL.
• Experience with LLMs/VLMs post-training is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to cutting-edge AI/ML research applied to Pinterest challenges across Ads, Discovery, Growth, and Search.
• Identify, scope, architect, build, and deliver full, novel ML solutions from 0 to 1 at scale.
