Job summary

Kodiak Robotics, Inc. is seeking a Staff Machine Learning Engineer focusing on model deployment to advance the Kodiak Driver. You will design and deploy ML systems that help our vehicles understand the world, predict other road users, and drive safely.

You will work with perception, planning, and infrastructure teams to scale AI across a growing fleet. The role emphasizes deploying onboard models, optimizing latency, and aligning with offboard systems, leveraging large-scale data to improve

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Machine Learning, or related field; or equivalent practical experience.
• 6+ years of experience deploying ML or DL systems in production environments.
• Proficiency in Python, C++, and ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Experience with large-scale distributed training systems.
• Strong fundamentals in optimization and ML concepts.
• Solid software engineering practices including testing, debugging, and system design.

Responsibilities

• Design and deploy onboard ML models to improve performance and latency of the Kodiak autonomy stack.
• Align onboard and offboard models through validation on hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) setups.
• Collaborate with perception, planning, simulation, and infrastructure teams to productionize ML models.
• Analyze real-world driving logs to identify edge cases and improve model robustness and safety.
• Use profiling tools to reduce training time by removing bottlenecks and optimizing pipelines.
• Contribute to scalable AI infrastructure enabling continuous learning and deployment across Kodiak's fleet.
