Job summary

General Motors seeks a Staff Engineer to advance evaluation tools for autonomous driving models. You will design and build scalable introspection systems, visualize model performance, and guide ML teams to data-driven decisions across offline and on-road contexts.

You’ll collaborate with Data, Infra, and Simulation teams to align offline evaluation with real-world vehicle behavior and shape safety and reliability through scalable tooling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience shipping production software and iterating quickly in a high-impact environment.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Build and refine evaluation signal and introspection tools to shorten the experiment path toward optimal models.
• Develop visualization tools and metrics within the core model evaluation loop.
• Enable ML teams to introspect model behavior and drive data-driven decisions with minimal manual intervention.
• Provide technical leadership through reviews and best practices across teams.
