Job summary

Taskrabbit is seeking a Staff Machine Learning Engineer to own the core ranking system end-to-end. You will lead architecture, design experiments, and ensure reliability while shaping ML direction with product, data science, risk, and commerce teams.

You will mentor engineers, drive scalable ML solutions, and push for advanced ranking architectures and responsible experimentation. Hybrid work in US offices is offered.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of industry experience building and deploying production-grade ML systems.
• Experience owning a system end-to-end, not just contributing to one.
• Deep expertise in ranking, recommender systems, or two-sided marketplaces ML.
• Experience with debiasing and large-scale A/B testing in production.
• Strong architectural thinking across data pipelines, feature stores, training, serving, and monitoring.
• High-quality code reviews and maintainable implementations.
• Ability to do critical R&D and decide when to deepen vs. ship.

Responsibilities

• Ranking System Ownership: architect and own the core ranking system end-to-end.
• Cross-functional leadership: partner with Product, Data Science, Risk, and Commerce.
• Model reliability: build retraining, rollback, and drift-detection pipelines.
• Ranking quality and debiasing: improve data quality and reduce bias in rankings.
• Signal engineering: leverage client intent signals to drive conversions.
• Personalization: use user preferences to improve high-value bookings.
• Platform thinking: identify ML value beyond ranking and guide architecture.
