Reflection is a research lab that builds open models letting anyone control AI. We design data pipelines and models with a focus on open, accessible intelligence for all. This role involves sourcing, curating, and scaling data for pre-training and research.

You will collaborate with infrastructure to run large-scale experiments, publish findings, and share datasets and code with the open AI community, advancing responsible AI.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field is required.
• PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Physics, Mathematics, or equivalent research experience preferred.
• Strong written communication and ability to explain complex technical ideas.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement data sourcing, curating, and filtering of large-scale web, text, and code data with potential multimodal extensions.
• Develop data quality metrics to measure coverage, diversity, and representativeness across sources.
• Join the pre-training research team to design and run data experiments, collaborating with infrastructure to scale data systems efficiently.
• Investigate and mitigate data risks including privacy, safety, and licensing for responsible data use.
• Evaluate dataset changes through ablations and scaling experiments and trace effects on model learning.
• Publish research and share code, datasets, and insights with the open AI community.
