Job summary

LiveView Technologies in Seattle is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to own the data flywheel from raw edge telemetry and video to labeled training data and evaluation sets. This senior IC role partners with AI/ML research, the ML platform, and data operations to define dataset schemas and governance.

You will design scalable lakehouse pipelines, manage versioning, and ensure secure handling of privacy-sensitive data while enabling read/write access for researchers.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building and operating large-scale data pipelines and data-lake or lakehouse systems
• Experience building data pipelines for model training and evaluation and for labeled data
• Strong background with medallion-style layered data architectures and table formats
• Hands-on with multimodal data (video, image, sensor telemetry) and scalable storage patterns
• Proficient in PyTorch/Lightning dataloaders and Spark; strong Python knowledge
• Practical governance, privacy, lineage, and provenance in data pipelines
• Leadership experience setting data-engineering direction; not required to manage people
• Bachelor's or Master's in CS/Engineering, or equivalent practical experience

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end data flywheel from raw edge telemetry and video to labeled training data
• Build and own layered pipelines converting raw data to a single standard schema
• Manage labels/annotations lifecycle, versioning, quality checks, and delivery
• Own frozen validation and benchmark datasets for model comparisons
• Oversee dataset versioning and migration strategies with schema evolution
• Develop read/write libraries and Spark/PyTorch integrations for self-serve access
• Enforce governance via data safety, lineage, and privacy controls
• Mentor ICs and set data-engineering standards for flywheel contracts
