Job summary

LiveView Technologies is building physical AI systems, and this role sits at the center of the company’s data engine. As a Staff Data Engineer in Seattle, you will own the end-to-end data flywheel that turns raw edge telemetry and video into labeled training data, frozen evaluation and benchmark sets, and governed dataset outputs that support model training and evaluation.

This is a senior individual-contributor position with technical leadership responsibilities, partnering closely with AI/ML

Qualifications

• 8+ years building and operating large-scale production data pipelines and data-lake or lakehouse systems.
• Experience building pipelines for model training and evaluation, with labeled data and evaluation/benchmark sets.
• Strong background with medallion-style layered architectures and table/lake formats such as Iceberg, Delta, Parquet.
• Hands-on experience with video, image, and sensor/telemetry data at scale.
• Python and Spark proficiency; PyTorch/Lightning dataloaders is a plus.
• Experience enforcing data governance: lineage, provenance, access control, retention.

Responsibilities

• Own the full loop that converts raw edge telemetry and video into labeled training data, frozen evaluation sets, and the next iteration of model outputs.
• Design and operate pipelines that register raw data, standardize it into a schema, and join/aggregate datasets for a single store/read path.
• Append labels and semantic annotations without rewriting source data; ensure datasets are versioned, quality-checked, and served for training/evaluation.
• Own frozen, versioned validation and benchmark datasets with scrubbing/review discipline before external sharing.
• Define schema/versioning to allow evolution with opt-in versions and controlled reader/writer indirection.
• Build read/write libraries/integrations including PyTorch/Lightning dataloaders, CRUDL API, Spark access for self-service.
• Implement governance in pipelines with scrubbing/anonymization, lineage/provenance for dataset versions and campaigns.
• Mentor other engineers and set data-engineering direction for the flywheel schema and contracts.
