Job summary

hydroGEOPHYSICS, Inc. seeks a Staff Metallurgist to apply hydrometallurgical expertise to heap leach pads and design solution injection programs. Will bridge metallurgy with geophysical surveys using resistivity, IP, and EM methods.

Up to 50% field work and training provided. Permanent salaried position open to experienced professionals. Reporting to the Divisional Vice President, the role emphasizes collaboration with geophysicists and cross-functional teams, with opportunities for leadership

Qualifications

• Education: a BS in Mining, Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering (or related).
• M.Sc. counts as two years of experience; Ph.D. counts as four years of experience.
• Spanish-language fluency preferred for client interactions.

Responsibilities

• Interprets solution chemistry and operational records to assess leach pad performance and residual recovery potential for copper and gold operations.
• Develops conceptual models of leach maturity, short-circuiting, preferential flow, and residual metal distribution to guide geophysical survey design.
• Supports design and implementation of low-pressure solution injection wells on active heap leach pads, including spacing, bench placement, casing, and pilot tests.
• Reviews column leach tests, bottle roll tests, and metallurgical balance data to support residual recovery assessments.
• Collaborates with geophysicists to correlate resistivity, IP, and EM response to solution content and ore mineralogy.
• Co-authors technical reports and proposals; reviews integrated interpretations with senior staff.
• Interacts with mine site metallurgy, process, and operations during project scoping, field execution, and reporting.
• Provides Spanish-language support during client interactions and site visits.
