Overview

To support Tesla’s mission of accelerating the world’s transition to sustainable energy, the Tesla Energy team is developing advanced battery technology for grid applications. We leverage innovative firmware, electronics, mechanical design, testing, and manufacturing capabilities to create top-tier charging systems and grid-connected storage solutions at residential, industrial, and utility levels.

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer passionate about hardware integration and mechanical design to help drive the transition to a sustainable future. Our work environment emphasizes collaboration and fun as we work together to change the world.

Responsibilities
  1. Lead mechanical integration and validation efforts across multiple teams, including component and system-level validation.
  2. Develop and oversee comprehensive mechanical test plans, including component testing, system validation, and pilot runs.
  3. Manage the hardware readiness checklist for production start-up, product launch, and shipping readiness.
  4. Lead DFMEA processes during product design, integration, and testing phases.
  5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet functional, performance, and safety requirements.
  6. Support failure analysis to identify root causes and resolve hardware issues during validation.
  7. Provide feedback to improve design and performance continuously.
  8. Engage in hardware prototyping and system bring-up activities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in hardware integration, enclosure design, busbar design, and battery testing.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals, with some electrical engineering knowledge.
  • Familiarity with hardware development processes.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and analytical thinking.
  • Proficiency with hardware testing tools and laboratory equipment.
  • Effective communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Preferred: Experience in energy storage or electric vehicle charging industries.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of batteries, power electronics, and renewable energy systems.
  • Preferred: Experience with high voltage/high power systems.
