Job summary

Akkar is seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical design and development of battery and charging systems for a next-generation humanoid robot.

You will own battery enclosures, thermal management, docking interfaces, and work across manufacturing, quality, and suppliers to deliver production-ready hardware.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in mechanical design and development of complex electromechanical products.
  • Experience with battery hardware, battery enclosures, charging systems, connectors, or power electronics packaging.
  • Experience taking products from concept through prototype, validation, and production.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design, tolerance analysis, manufacturing processes, and validation.

Responsibilities

  • Design advanced battery systems including enclosures, mounting structures, retention mechanisms, and service interfaces.
  • Develop reliable charging systems with precise alignment, battery engagement, and repeated charging cycles.
  • Solve integration challenges across battery, charging, connectors, thermal management, and robotic hardware.
  • Use structural, thermal, and tolerance analysis to validate and optimize designs.
  • Take concepts through prototyping, testing, root-cause analysis, and design iteration.
  • Work closely with manufacturing, quality, and suppliers to develop production-ready hardware.
  • Drive DFM/DFA, cost optimization, reliability, and serviceability as designs scale.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentor engineers across battery and charging hardware development.

The Role
