Role Overview:

Within the Ads Performance team, you will connect the aspirations of Pinners with our partner products. Your responsibilities include developing and executing the vision for the evolution of the machine learning stack for Ads Ranking, covering Candidate Generation, Lightweight Ranker, Engagement Modeling, and Conversion Modeling. You will tackle new challenges such as user sequence modeling, large models, embedding features, model quantization, utility alignment, application of LLM and multi-modal models, and domain-specific challenges like next-gen lightweight ranking beyond two-tower architecture, quota allocation, new engagement type modeling, RoAS optimization, among others, to enhance ML models that power ad ranking and delivery.

What you'll do:
  1. Develop state-of-the-art machine learning projects for ads ranking, focusing on lightweight ranker, engagement modeling, or conversion modeling.
  2. Design features and build large-scale ML models to improve user ad action prediction with low latency.
  3. Create new techniques to infer user interests from online and offline activities.
  4. Mine text, visual, and user signals to better understand user intent.
  5. Collaborate with product and sales teams to design and implement new ad products.
What we're looking for:
  1. MS or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, or related field.
  2. 6+ years of experience building production ML systems at scale, including data mining, search, recommendations, or NLP.
  3. 2+ years leading projects or teams.
  4. Strong mathematical skills and knowledge of statistical methods.
  5. Excellent cross-functional collaboration and communication skills.
  6. Background in computational advertising is preferred but not required.
