SUMMARY

Are you passionate about land surveying and eager to work on impactful projects? As a Staff Land Surveyor, you'll be at the forefront of data collection and field surveys, helping shape infrastructure and development projects. Working alongside licensed surveyors and engineers, you’ll conduct topographical surveys, perform boundary calculations, and utilize cutting-edge GPS and CAD technology for precise project execution.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collect necessary topographical survey data to be used in the completion of engineering projects.
  • Conduct field surveys and collect field information concerning land surveys under the direct supervision of a licensed Land Surveyor.
  • Conduct preliminary surveys.
  • Provide construction staking.
  • Assist with maintenance of survey equipment and vehicles.
  • Review job specifications and plan field work to ensure compliance with established project scope and budgets.
  • Download and process survey data to create base maps and digital terrain models.
  • Operate independently utilizing current hardware and software, including robotic total station survey equipment and GPS equipment.
  • Upload alignments, control, and data from CADD into survey equipment for field layout.
  • Conduct research of public records in connection with land surveys.
  • Perform boundary closure calculations and traverse adjustments.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Must possess an associate’s degree in Surveying (or equivalent) or a Bachelor of Science in Surveying, or another applicable field from an accredited college or university.
  • Two to four years of Survey and field inspection experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Surveyor In Training (SIT) license preferred.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
  • Advanced knowledge of CADD software and engineering automation tools.
  • Strong time management, communication, and mechanical skills.
  • Must possess strong technical verbal and writing skills. Must be able to read and interpret technical literature and engineering plans, and correctly operate technical analysis equipment.
  • Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills and be able to independently apply engineering knowledge toward solving assigned tasks and activities.
  • The employee must be capable of driving/operating a motor vehicle for company business and maintain a valid driver’s license in the state of residence.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

Must be capable of carrying up to 40 pounds of equipment over all types of terrain and in all types of weather conditions. Must be able to transverse all types of project sites including industrial, commercial, and undeveloped ground.

Must be willing to travel on short- or long-term assignments at client locations to complete assigned work.

COMPENSATION RANGE

$60,600.00 - $95,600.00

The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in accordance with the Illinois Salary Transparency amendment to the Equal Pay Act of 2003. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, skills, prior work experience, competencies, and geographic work location. The total annual compensation package may consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate, after a qualifying period, in our performance and discretionary incentive bonus program(s).
