Job description

Heritage Interpreting is an interpreter/Coda-owned interpreting company headquartered in Columbus, Ohio. We coordinate language services for various businesses and organizations across Ohio, Indiana, New York, DMV, Florida, California, and nationwide.

Hours: Full-time position: Extending to and no greater than 40 hours/week during 8 AM – 6 PM, Monday – Friday.

Position Overview:

Staff Interpreter provides sign language interpreting services to the Deaf Community and the Heritage Interpreting staff/clients as requested and/or scheduled by the Operations Department.

Reports to: Director of Interpreting

Description/Responsibilities:
Interpreting Duties:
  1. Provide ASL/English interpretation from both Deaf and hearing Heritage Interpreting clients and consumers.
  2. Work in both Deaf/hearing teams onsite and virtually.
  3. Travel to all Heritage Interpreting assignments within the areas of the Columbus metropolitan area.
  4. Professionally represent the agency.
  5. Collaborate and communicate with the Operations Department to assist in covering both pre-scheduled and emergency requests across multiple environments, including medical, educational, mental health, platform, and more.
Non-interpreting Duties:
  1. Participation in Heritage Interpreting company events.
  2. Other duties, as necessary and determined by the Heritage Interpreting management team.
Qualifications:
  1. RID certification preferred.
  2. Reliable transportation is required.
  3. Strong attention to detail.
  4. Self-driven yet collaborative working style.
  5. Time management and organizational skills.
  6. Ability to maintain composure under pressure.
  7. Commitment to continuous professional growth and learning.
Compensation:

$50-60k annual base salary

Nights (6 PM – 8 AM)

OT (Over 8 consecutive hours in a day and/or 32 interpreting hours in a week)

Mileage (based on client account)

Guaranteed annual pay increase
