Job summary

Simpson Housing LLLP / Simpson Property Group LLC in Denver, CO seeks an Internal Auditor to strengthen compliance, controls and risk management. You will support audits, process reviews, and special requests while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

This role offers growth in internal audit, exposure to corporate operations, and a hybrid schedule with travel across the US. Strong analytical, communication, and Excel skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Audit, Financial Reporting or related field is required.
• 1 to 2 years of experience in internal audit, accounting, or financial reporting; property accounting is a plus.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and planning skills with clear communication with stakeholders.
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite, especially Excel.

Responsibilities

• Helping plan and execute internal audits, including compliance reviews and due diligence.
• Reviewing operations for policy, risk control, and audit standards alignment.
• Auditing communities and corporate operations with increasing ownership over time.
• Preparing clear reports summarizing findings and improvements.
• Partnering with management and external auditors as needed.
• Building knowledge of internal audit practices and regulatory expectations.

Responsibilities

Staff Internal Auditor - Simpson Housing Corporate Office located in the Denver Tech Center (hybrid work schedule - expected in office 3 days per week and 25% travel within the US) - Denver, CO.

As a member of our Internal Audit team, you will play a key role in strengthening compliance, internal controls, and risk management across the organization. In this role, you'll contribute to a variety of audit activities, including operational audits, process reviews, and occasional special requests. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for improvement and help drive efficient, effective business practices. • Helping plan and execute internal audits, including compliance reviews, acquisition due diligence, and other special projects
• Reviewing business operations to assess alignment with policies, procedures, risk controls, and internal audit standards
• Conducting audits of communities, corporate operations, and compliance areas, taking on greater ownership as you grow in the role
• Preparing clear, organized reports that summarize findings, highlight risks, and recommend practical improvements
• Sharing audit results and recommendations with management and business partners in a professional, constructive way
• Reviewing Affordable Housing documentation to support compliance with tax, state, and local requirements and regulations
• Supporting the development of corporate process documentation, including process flow analysis, and internal control identification
• Partnering with external auditors during the annual audit process as needed
• Assisting with confidential projects and other audit-related work requiring discretion and sound judgment
• Building your knowledge of internal audit practices, regulatory expectations, and industry standards

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Audit, Financial Reporting or related field is required
• 1 to 2 years of experience in internal audit, accounting, or financial reporting; property accounting experience is a plus
• Strong analytical, organizational, and planning skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with a variety of stakeholders
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite, especially Excel is required
• Professionalism, discretion, and the ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality

Pay Range: $75,500 - $80,000 per year

This pay range is approximate and the actual pay received may vary dependent upon certain factors such as related job experience, education, training, professional/industry certifications, etc. Please note this pay range does not include any additional compensation this position may be eligible for as listed above, such as commissions or bonuses.
