Job summary

Shield AI in the United States is seeking a Staff ISSO to secure classified information systems within our Federal Systems Team, ensuring RMF, NIST 800-53 controls, and DoD/IC compliance across multiple classification levels and CDS environments.

The role is on-site in a high-performance IT environment, requires 8+ years in cybersecurity, scripting skills, eMASS familiarity, and collaboration with engineers and system administrators to maintain secure baselines and audit-ready documentation.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Implement and monitor cybersecurity controls per RMF and NIST 800-53
• Ensure DoD and IC requirements compliance
• Review configurations, audit logs, and controls regularly
• Support RMF lifecycle activities and maintain SSPs/POA&Ms
• Coordinate with ISSM, AO, and stakeholders
• Perform vulnerability management and patch tracking
• Analyze scan results (ACAS/Nessus) and report risk posture
• Support incident response activities and audits
• Maintain audit-ready documentation
• Coordinate with CDS administrators and ensure CDS security oversight
• Maintain secure baselines and review configuration changes
• Collaborate with engineers and admins on secure design and MLS environments

We are seeking a detail-oriented and mission-driven Staff Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to support our Federal Systems Team and ensure the security, compliance, and integrity of our classified information systems. This is an on-site role within a high-performance classified IT environment.

The Staff ISSO will play a critical role in safeguarding systems by implementing and maintaining cybersecurity controls, supporting system accreditation, and ensuring compliance with DoD and Intelligence Community (IC) security requirements. This role is central to enabling secure operations across multiple classification levels, including environments leveraging Cross Domain Solutions (CDS).

Information Assurance & Security Compliance

• Implement and monitor cybersecurity controls in accordance with RMF and NIST 800-53
• Ensure compliance with DoD and IC requirements
• Review configurations, audit logs, and controls regularly

RMF & Accreditation Support

• Support RMF lifecycle activities
• Maintain SSPs, POA&Ms, and related artifacts
• Coordinate with ISSM, AO, and stakeholders

Continuous Monitoring & Risk Management

• Perform vulnerability management and patch tracking
• Analyze scan results (ACAS/Nessus)
• Report system risk posture

Incident Response & Audit Support

• Support incident response activities
• Assist with audits and inspections
• Maintain audit-ready documentation

Cross Domain Solutions (CDS) Security Oversight

• Support CDS accreditation and compliance
• Validate configurations and data flows
• Coordinate with CDS administrators

System Hardening & Configuration Management

• Ensure STIG compliance
• Maintain secure baselines
• Review configuration changes

Collaboration & Advisory

• Work with engineers and admins on secure design
• Provide guidance on MLS environments

Qualifications
