Job summary

Northrop Grumman Space Systems seeks a Staff Information Systems Project Manager to lead HPC infrastructure programs for SDA ground-based radar initiatives. You will coordinate IT and engineering teams, drive design-to-delivery, and ensure performance, schedule, and security requirements are met.

You will report to the Compute IPT lead, mentor a ~15-person team, and interact with internal leadership and customers while applying deep HPC, Linux, networking, and cyber security expertise.

Qualifications

  • Requires a STEM bachelor's with 12+ years' experience, or master's with 10+ years, or PhD with 8+ years.
  • Active U.S. Government Secret clearance; U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Experience leading IT projects with HPC environments and multi-node architectures.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and Jira/Confluence.
  • Strong communication of technical approaches and trade studies.

Responsibilities

Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Staff Information Systems Project Manager to join a multi-disciplined team responsible for the design, build, delivery, and sustainment of high-performance computer environments.

The Information Systems Project Manager is responsible for leading and managing the project(s) through design, build, integration, and delivery of high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructure supporting a new ground-based radar system for Space Domain Awareness (SDA). This role leads cross‑functional Information Technology (IT) and engineering teams, defines technical objectives, and ensures solutions are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with performance and security requirements. This role will be reporting directly to the Compute Integrated Product Team (IPT) lead who is responsible for multiple Information Systems projects and collaborate with peer project managers.

Responsibilities
  • Lead one or more IT infrastructure projects that span multiple functional organizations.
  • Own the infrastructure design, build, integration, and delivery of HPC solutions supporting SDA ground‑based radar missions.
  • Develop and maintain project execution plans, schedules, and milestones.
  • Identify and coordinate technical and business resources across System Administrators, Network Engineers, Hardware Engineers, Software Developers, Cyber Security Engineers, Requirements Engineers, and MBSE Systems Engineers.
  • Ensure projects meet cost, schedule, quality, and technical performance goals.
  • Apply extensive technical expertise in HPC, RedHat Linux, networking, and cyber security to solve complex problems.
  • Provide technical and analytical guidance; mentor and direct the work of multi‑disciplinary team members (~15).
  • Exercise considerable latitude in determining technical objectives and solution approaches.
  • Represent the organization as the primary technical contact on assigned contracts and projects.
  • Prepare and deliver clear technical briefings, status updates, and recommendations to internal leadership and external customers.
  • Stay current on advances in IT, HPC, and cyber security and recommend improvements to architectures and processes.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with 12 years of professional experience – OR – Master’s degree with 10 years of professional experience – OR – PhD with 8 years of professional experience.
  • Requires an active U.S. Government Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Experience leading or managing information technology projects involving: High-performance computing environments GPGPU and multi-node processing architectures
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and execution.
  • Hands‑on experience with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence).
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate and present technical approaches, trade studies, and findings.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with HPE high-performance computing platforms (e.g., HPE HCP).
  • Strong background in: RedHat Linux administration and integration, Networking design and configuration, Cyber security and secure infrastructure design.
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams on complex DoD or radar / SDA programs.
  • Familiarity with MBSE and requirements management tools and processes.

  • Primary Level Salary Range: $161,000.00 - $241,400.00
  • The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
  • Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
  • Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
  • Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
  • In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
