Job summary

Gilder Search Group in Carson City is seeking a Staff High Voltage Electrical Engineer (EPC) to lead the design of 69kV–345kV substations and serve as Engineer of Record on critical clean energy projects.

You will own design packages from concept through commissioning, collaborating with utilities and ISO/RTOs, and ensuring NEC and NFPA compliance while mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited degree in electrical engineering, BS or MS.
• Active Nevada PE license or reciprocity-eligibility.
• 10+ years of high voltage design experience, EPC background preferred.
• Advanced proficiency with PSSE/PSLF/PSCAD and related software tools.
• Experience with relay settings, protection schemes, and HV equipment.
• Knowledge of NEC/IEEE/NESC/NFPA compliance and field commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Lead design of high voltage AC systems (69kV–345kV) with transmission lines and MV distribution.
• Develop single-line diagrams, layouts, protection, grounding, and relay coordination.
• Perform grid studies (PSSE, PSLF, PSCAD, ASPEN OneLiner) and short-circuit analyses.
• Collaborate with utilities and ISO/RTOs on interconnection studies and permitting.
• Specify HV equipment, settings, and protection relays; lead reviews and compliance.
• Support construction, testing, commissioning, and field troubleshooting.
• Lead R&D for MVDC distribution for BESS integration; mentor junior engineers.

Our client, a fast-growing clean energy innovator, is hiring a Staff High Voltage Electrical Engineer to lead the design of 69kV–345kV substations and serve as Engineer of Record on projects central to domestic clean energy production. What You'll Do

• Lead design of high voltage AC systems — industrial substations (69kV–345kV) integrated with transmission lines and MV distribution
• Develop single-line diagrams, physical layouts, protection and control systems, relay coordination, and grounding plans
• Perform grid simulation and stability studies (PSSE, PSLF, PSCAD, ASPEN OneLiner) plus short circuit, load flow, and arc flash analysis
• Work directly with utilities and ISO/RTOs on interconnection studies, permitting, and compliance
• Develop SEL relay settings and select HV equipment — switchgear, breakers, transformers, reactors, PTs/CTs, protection relays
• Lead NEC, IEEE, NESC, and NFPA compliance reviews
• Support construction and commissioning with field engineering, testing, and troubleshooting
• Lead R&D into medium voltage DC distribution for BESS integration
• Manage scope, schedule, budget, and cost estimates across your design packages
• Mentor junior engineers and set team design standards

What You'll Bring
