Descripción de la vacante

Lightship is seeking a Staff Design Engineer focused on wiring systems to advance battery-powered RVs. You will collaborate with power, vehicle and controls teams to ensure power and signals reach devices across the vehicle.

You will own wiring harness design, maintain diagrams, manage HV routing, and mentor engineers while contributing to safety analyses and supplier sourcing.

Formación

  • 7+ years of mechanical or electrical engineering design experience, with direct experience spec’ing, designing, and validating wire harnesses.
  • Experience with CAD/PLM/PDM systems, rapid iteration cycles, harness sizing & provisioning, creating 3D CAD and 2D drawings for harness routing, and creating design validation plans for electrical hardware & mechanical assemblies.
  • Preferred EV/HV routing experience; automotive or transportation industry exposure.

Responsabilidades

  • Own product design for vehicle wire harnesses that may include signal wiring, solar, AC and DC appliance power, and other vehicle sensor, component, and controller wiring
  • Maintain the full vehicle wiring diagram with support from the power systems and vehicle engineering teams
  • Manage high-voltage harness routing and design for the drive system, power distribution, and HVAC
  • Own device transmittal documentation as the interfacing document between device owners, controls, and harnessing team
  • Work with power systems and vehicle teams to package wire harness components on the interior and exterior of the RV cabin
  • Conduct detailed mechanical analysis of subsystems and components as needed to ensure all functional, durability, and longevity requirements are met
  • Perform Design Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (DFMEA) to establish reliability and mitigate safety issues for critical components and assemblies
  • Select off-the-shelf components (connectors, terminals, wire, loom, shields, etc.) with a focus on cost, quality, and supply chain robustness
  • Work directly with vendors alongside supply chain for sourcing parts, components, and materials
  • Support functional prototyping of subsystems to de-risk designs early before full vehicle builds
  • Work with the test engineering team to develop DVP&R testing and troubleshoot vehicle-level test failures
  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to a growing team of mechanical engineers
