Job summary

Nokia is seeking a Staff Hardware Engineer to own end-to-end hardware development of next-generation digital modules. You will create and maintain schematics, PCB layouts, and libraries, and drive lab validation.

Collaborate with firmware, system, and mechanical teams, build test fixtures, debug issues, and support field failures to ensure reliability and timely delivery. You will mentor junior engineers and contribute to design reviews, toolchain improvements, and compliance with IPC/ISO

Job description

The Staff Hardware Engineer will be a key member of the NI ON Comp R&D Module Prod Dev team, responsible for endtoend hardware development of nextgeneration communication modules. You will create and maintain schematics, PCB layouts, and associated libraries, develop test fixtures and prototypes, debug designs inlab and in the field, and manage design data within the company's database. Collaboration with crossfunctional teams and providing rapid assistance on field failures are essential to ensure product reliability and timely delivery.

• Develop and review detailed schematics and PCB layouts for digital hardware modules.
• Create and maintain schematic symbols, footprint libraries, and design database entries.
• Design, build, and execute test fixtures and prototype hardware for validation.
• Perform functional and compliance testing, analyzing results and iterating designs.
• Debug hardware issues inlab and provide onsite support for field failures.
• Collaborate with firmware, system, and mechanical engineers to integrate solutions.
• Generate and maintain design documentation, including BOMs and revision control.
• Lead design reviews and ensure compliance with Nokia and industry standards.
• Mentor junior engineers and share best practices across the team.
• Drive continuous improvement of design processes and tooling.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of handson experience in digital hardware design at a staff level.
• Proficiency with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (e.g., Altium, Cadence).
• Strong knowledge of highspeed digital design, signal integrity, and power distribution.
• Experience creating and managing component libraries and design databases.
• Demonstrated ability to develop test fixtures, prototypes, and perform hardware debugging.
• Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., IPC, ISO) and regulatory compliance testing.
• Excellent problemsolving skills and ability to support field failure investigations.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills in a multidisciplinary environment.
