Job summary

Archer in San Jose, CA is hiring a senior engineer to architect CI/CD pipelines and automate testing for flight dynamics and vehicle simulation. You will integrate MATLAB/Simulink models with embedded platforms and manage interfaces across teams.

You will build toolchains for code generation from Simulink, maintain HPC resources for Monte Carlo runs, and collaborate across FD&C and Platform embedded software teams. Strong C/C++ and scripting skills are required.

Qualifications

What you’ll do:

• Architect, build, and maintain Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) workflows and automated testing pipelines for the GNC and Vehicle Simulation groups using tools like GitHub Actions and TeamCity.


• Support developing and maintaining automated toolchains to generate, compile, and deploy Simulink and MATLAB code across multiple targets, including desktop simulation environments, Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) lab hardware, and flight computers for both subscale and full-scale vehicles.


• Architect new, and manage existing, High-Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructure to support large-scale Monte Carlo simulations, batch regression testing, and parallelized simulations and testing


• Manage the critical software interfaces between the \"Virtual Vehicle\" (Simulink models) and downstream platforms, including managing Interface Control Documents (ICDs), data dictionaries, and signal mapping to embedded middleware.


• Develop C/C++ wrapper functions, S-functions, and harnesses to integrate compiled code and external libraries seamlessly within the MATLAB/Simulink environment.


• Act as a cross-functional engineering multiplier: Leverage your familiarity with aerospace principles to flex across roles, contributing directly to vehicle simulation modeling, physics tooling, or GNC integration tasks when needed.


• Serve as the primary technical bridge between the Flight Dynamics & Control (FD&C) team and the Platform embedded software team, ensuring that complex algorithms translate predictably to real-time execution.

What you need:

• BS/Advanced Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or a related field with at least 8 years of relevant experience


• Foundational understanding of aerospace principles, vehicle dynamics, or GNC concepts, enabling you to speak the exact same language as the engineers whose algorithms you are deploying.


• Proficiency in MATLAB and Simulink, specifically including auto-code generation tools (Simulink Coder, Embedded Coder).


• Strong proficiency in modern C/C++ and experience integrating C/C++ with Simulink.


• Proven experience designing and maintaining CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions, TeamCity, Jenkins, or similar platforms.


• Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, or MATLAB scripting) for automating build systems and testing pipelines.


• Ability to use, understand and leverage modern LLMs and AI based coding tools.

Bonus Qualifications:

Direct experience developing or verifying GNC/Vehicle Simulation systems in simulation or on hardware is a major plus!!

• Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) like Linux RT, VxWorks, or QNX.


• Experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) systems (e.g., Speedgoat, dSPACE, VeriStand).


• Knowledge of communication protocols (CAN, Ethernet, RS-422) and middleware (DDS, ROS2).


• Experience with Model-Based Design (MBD) certification standards like DO-331 or safety-critical software development (DO-178C).


• Experience packaging and containerizing simulation environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
