Greptile in San Francisco is seeking a Senior Engineer to help build AI-powered tooling that understands a large codebase. You will help language models read and navigate code, index repos, and design agents that test running software.
You’ll work with users to weigh tradeoffs, shape architecture, and ensure reliable, scalable self-hosted deployments in production. Strong TypeScript in production experience is expected.

The product is itself an AI tool, so much of the work is building the systems that let language models understand a whole codebase, learn a team's habits, and even test running software. AI handles the first pass of reading code, while people decide which problems matter, shape the architecture, and judge what feedback is actually useful to customers. Talking with users and weighing tradeoffs under fast growth stays a human job.
Someone in this role would get direct experience with practical AI engineering, such as giving models long term memory, building search over big code collections, and designing agents that try to break applications. Those problems come up in real production use with many customers, including ones that need self-hosted setups. To prepare, a candidate could build a small project that indexes a repo and answers questions about it, or an agent that checks code changes.

An AI code reviewer that indexes a team's whole codebase as a graph first, so it can catch bugs a diff-only tool would miss.
