Job summary

Brilliant Earth is seeking a Staff Gemologist to review, catalog, and quality-check gemstones and estate jewelry to support efficient operations and high standards. You will manage gemstone inventory, assist with sourcing and supplier coordination, and help implement processes that improve accuracy and reduce costs while aligning with our socially responsible mission.

Ideal candidates have jewelry appraisal certification or related experience, plus strong organizational and communication skills

Qualifications

• Experience in jewelry products and estate jewelry preferred
• Certification in fine jewelry appraisal preferred
• Operations and/or administrative experience preferred
• Inventory/supply chain experience in retail or e-commerce preferred
• Highly organized with focus on execution, problem solving, and process improvement
• Excellent written and verbal communications
• Interest in socially and environmentally responsible organizations and products

Responsibilities

• Review and quality assurance inspections of loose diamonds, sapphires and other colored gemstones and melee to optimize quality and reduce cost
• Review and catalog estate jewelry items including appraisal and repair evaluations where necessary
• Track and process gemstone inventory with high accuracy and maintain strict organization of estate and gemstone inventory
• Assist sales team with sourcing requirements for special order gemstones and diamonds
• Coordinate orders across suppliers and track purchase orders for timely arrival and processing
• Formulate and implement systems, policies and procedures to ensure smooth operation of the business

Position Overview

The Staff Gemologistis responsible forgemstone and estate jewelry review, tracking, and cataloging to maximize efficiency and quality standards critical to Brilliant Earth’s success. Candidates should have a strong entrepreneurial spirit, desire to work in a socially responsible consumer business, and desire to work with gems and estate jewelry. Ideal candidates will thrive in a fast-paced startup environment andexhibitimpeccable attention to detail and organizational skills.

The targeted budget for this position is $22-28 per hour. This compensation budget range may be adjusted at any time at the discretion of the company.

Key responsibilities include

• Review and quality assurance inspections of loose diamonds, sapphires and other colored gemstones, and melee tooptimizehigh quality,maintainconsistency, and reduce cost.
• Review and catalog estate jewelry itemsprocuredby our team, including appraisal and repair evaluations, where necessary.
• Track, review, and process gemstone inventory with efficiency andhigh levelof accuracy. Maintain strict organization of estate and gemstone inventory.
• Work withsalesteam toassistwith requirements for sourcing special order gemstones and diamonds.
• Coordinate orders across differentsuppliers, andtrackstatusof purchase orders to ensuretimelyarrival and processing.
