Position Description

Deque is seeking a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to join our Development department on the axe Monitor Team. This position will play a crucial role in developing and enhancing our axe Monitor product, which helps organizations continuously monitor and improve the accessibility of their digital platforms. The ideal candidate will lead major technical projects, contribute to architectural decisions, and mentor other team members while working in a collaborative environment committed to digital equality. We're looking for someone with extensive experience in both front-end and back-end technologies who is passionate about creating accessible software solutions that make a real difference in people's lives.

Primary Responsibilities


  • Contribute to the development of the axe Monitor product, implementing new features and enhancing existing functionality

  • Lead major technical projects from start to finish, including planning, implementation, and deployment

  • Ensure implementations are architecturally sound, scalable, and robust

  • Maintain a high level of software quality through code reviews and documenting standards

  • Write and review technical proposals to improve product architecture and infrastructure

  • Mentor and support developers on your team, fostering growth and knowledge sharing

  • Participate in team meetings and interviews to ensure alignment and contribute to team culture

  • Follow Agile development practices to help the team meet product delivery goals

  • Develop innovative solutions to improve both the team and the product

  • Work with Product Management to define and prioritize features, bug fixes, and software maintenance

  • Work with Sales, Service, and Customer Support to help customers use our products effectively





Requirements


  • 7+ years of experience building and maintaining large-scale SaaS applications

  • 3+ years of experience developing Java applications, preferably with the Spring stack

  • Experience with NodeJS and React

  • Experience with SQL databases (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server)

  • Experience maintaining continuous integration pipelines (e.g. GitHub actions, CircleCI)

  • Experience with messaging systems (e.g. ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ)

  • Experience with AWS services (e.g. Lambda, S3, ECS)

  • Experience with building containerized services (e.g Docker, Kubernetes)

  • Experience working on a global, remote team of engineers that follows Agile methodologies





Additional Skills Desired


  • Experience building and maintaining Go applications

  • Experience with multi-region and on-prem deployments

  • Experience with batch processing and distributed systems
