Job summary

Alaffia is seeking a Staff Engineer to tackle complex, cross-team technical challenges, define architectural direction, and act as a force multiplier across our engineering org. You will translate strategic goals into technical roadmaps, lead execution, and champion AI-augmented development practices.

You will architect high-impact systems, set coding standards, mentor engineers, and collaborate with product leaders on technical strategy.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, with a track record of leading complex, high-impact projects at scale.
• Expert-level TypeScript, Python, GraphQL, and PostgreSQL.
• Strong system design and cloud infrastructure experience (AWS preferred), including CI/CD and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Demonstrated success adopting AI coding assistants to improve team productivity.
• Excellent communication skills and experience mentoring senior engineers.
• Healthcare tech/regulatory experience (HIPAA, HITRUST) a plus

Responsibilities

• Architect and own delivery of complex, high-impact systems spanning multiple teams.
• Set technical direction and coding/design standards across the org.
• Drive AI coding tool adoption (Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor) — establish best practices and measure productivity gains.
• Mentor senior engineers and influence technical decisions without formal authority.
• Partner cross-functionally with product and business leaders on technical strategy.
• Own testing strategy, system health, and build-vs-buy decisions for critical infrastructure.
