Job summary

Anduril Industries, a defense technology innovator in Costa Mesa, seeks an experienced embedded systems leader. You will shepherd FPGA firmware life cycle, from MATLAB/Simulink algorithms to deployment on low-cost FPGAs and SoCs, working across RF, DSP, firmware, and software teams.

You will apply HDL expertise, C/C++, RTOS experience, and a strong sense for test, integration, and sustainment, while aligning with DoD-grade standards and secure processing requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
• Experience leading firmware and software from concept to production in cross-functional hardware teams.
• 10+ years designing FPGA-based systems using VHDL/Verilog.
• Proficient in C and C++ with RTOS experience.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with RF, DSP, Firmware, FPGA, software, and Test teams to deliver embedded processing solutions.
• Lead FPGA Firmware development lifecycle from algorithms to testing and sustainment for FPGAs, SoCs, and SoMs.
• Define and optimize HDL firmware workflows across architecture, design, verification, and system testing.
• Develop microProcessor ICDs between FPGA and data handling schemes.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Work with a cross-functional engineering team (RF, DSP, Firmware, FPGA, software, Test) to deliver robust embedded processing solutions for communications and networking.
• Execute and optimize the FPGA Firmware implementation development lifecycle, from algorithms in Matlab and/or Simulink and requirements definition through architecture, design, development, Firmware implementation, test, integration, support and sustainment for low-cost FPGAs, SoCs, and SoMs.
• Establish and optimize comprehensive product development workflows and best practices across the HDL firmware lifecycle, encompassing architecture, design, simulation, verification, and system testing.
• Develop microProcessor ICDs between FPGA and message/data handling schemes

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
• Demonstrated experience working with cross-functional hardware and/or embedded systems product development teams, taking firmware and software from concept to production
• 10+ years of experience designing, implementing, and verifying FPGA-based systems using VHDL or Verilog,
• Experience using code-generators to translate MATLAB/Simulink algorithms into FPGA implementations
• Proficient in C and C++
• Experience with RTOS (Real Time Operating Systems)
• Familiarity with common MCU, CPU, FPGA devices and technologies
• Familiarity with standard interfaces such as Ethernet, I2C, SPI, PCIe, USB, etc.
• Familiarity with flight software architectures and development processes for embedded systems
• Proficiency with basic EE test equipment (Oscilloscopes, Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, etc.) and testing PCBAs.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience with wireless communications systems
• Expertise in computer networking
• Experience with AI-generated software (CoPilot, Claude, Code-GPT, etc.)
• Experience with implementing enhanced security measures

Familiarity with high reliability designs in aerospace environments

Familiarity with aircraft systems architectures, especially with redundant systems

Understanding and familiarity with DO-254, DO-178C, DO-160, DO-311A

Understanding and familiarity with MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-461

Experience designing, testing, and troubleshooting complex board designs in communications systems

US Salary Range

$220,000 - $292,000 USD

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
