Job summary

Anduril Industries in Costa Mesa, CA seeks an experienced embedded FPGA engineer to deliver robust FPGA-based processing for communications and networking. You will drive firmware lifecycles from MATLAB/Simulink concepts to HDL implementations on low-cost FPGAs, SoCs, and SoMs.

Applicants should have 6+ years in FPGA design (VHDL/Verilog), C/C++, RTOS, and familiarity with Ethernet/I2C/SPI/PCIe/USB. Eligible for US security clearance and able to contribute across hardware and software boundaries.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in EE/CS or equivalent required.
• Experience turning firmware/software concepts into production hardware.
• 6+ years designing FPGA-based systems with VHDL/Verilog.

What You'll Do

• Work with a cross-functional engineering team (RF, DSP, Firmware, FPGA, software, Test) to deliver robust embedded processing solutions for communications and networking.
• Execute and optimize the FPGA Firmware implementation development lifecycle, from algorithms in Matlab and/or Simulink and requirements definition through architecture, design, development, Firmware implementation, test, integration, support and sustainment for low-cost FPGAs, SoCs, and SoMs.
• Establish and optimize comprehensive product development workflows and best practices across the HDL firmware lifecycle, encompassing architecture, design, simulation, verification, and system testing.
• Develop microProcessor ICDs between FPGA and message/data handling schemes

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
• Demonstrated experience working with cross-functional hardware and/or embedded systems product development teams, taking firmware and software from concept to production
• 6+ years of experience designing, implementing, and verifying FPGA-based systems using VHDL or Verilog,
• Experience using code-generators to translate MATLAB/Simulink algorithms into FPGA implementations
• Proficient in C and C++
• Experience with RTOS (Real Time Operating Systems)
• Familiarity with common MCU, CPU, FPGA devices and technologies
• Familiarity with standard interfaces such as Ethernet, I2C, SPI, PCIe, USB, etc.
• Familiarity with flight software architectures and development processes for embedded systems
• Proficiency with basic EE test equipment (Oscilloscopes, Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, etc.) and testing PCBAs.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with wireless communications systems
• Expertise in computer networking
• Experience with AI-generated software (CoPilot, Claude, Code-GPT, etc.)
• Experience with implementing enhanced security measures
• Familiarity with high reliability designs in aerospace environments
• Familiarity with aircraft systems architectures, especially with redundant systems
• Understanding and familiarity with DO-254, DO-178C, DO-160, DO-311A
• Understanding and familiarity with MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-461
• Experience designing, testing, and troubleshooting complex board designs in communications systems

US Salary Range

$166,000—$220,000 USD
